Getting your test results
Patients have a responsibility to check the outcome of any tests or other investigations but if your test results show that you need more tests or treatment, we will contact you.
Once a doctor has reviewed your test results, you can view them:
- in your NHS account (through the NHS website or NHS App)
- in your Online Access account
- by phoning us on 01277 283180 option 2 between 2pm and 5pm when it is less busy
To maintain confidentiality, we request that you do not ask members of you family or friends to ring for results on your behalf.
Please remember that the receptionist is not medically qualified to read any kind of test result. They will be able to tell you that a result has been marked as normal or not requiring action, but they cannot discuss them in any more detail than this. If the doctor asked to see you after the test had been done, please keep your appointment, even if the result is normal.
Do not be alarmed if you are told that the doctor wants to see you to discuss your results – this does not normally mean that there is something seriously wrong!
We will always tell you if we need to see you urgently.
